Application Engineer
Application Engineer is responsible for providing the initial design concept, layout, and estimates to the sales team. Works internally with cross-functional teams to provide design specifications, project management, and customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Work with Executive Management, Operations, Project Management, Sales, and Controls on client projects, expectations, and deliveries.
- Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies to improve Applications design and quoting time.
- Maintaining quoting schedules to meet delivery deadlines.
- Follow RFQ processes.
- Assist in developing RFQ standards and procedures.
- Provide estimated cost of build for concept layouts.
- Work directly with Customers and Sales Team to gather project information.
- Designs initial concept layouts of new equipment and systems.
- Reviews concept layouts and designs with Customer and Sales team.
- Fill in as Project Manager when required or assigned.
- Design 2D conceptual layouts to integrate with customer’s equipment using AutoCAD.
- Read through customer specifications in order to work with the sales team to provide the best solution and scope on projects.
- Assist in yield calculations to determine labor hours, material, and outside services necessary to produce customers request for quote.
- Create complete project documentation for engineering to include drawings related to layout plans, elevation, data sheets and project specifications.
- Writing first stage of scope of work documentation on all projects.
- Creates Work Orders for all projects.
- Manages all kick-off meetings with Engineering & Controls once a project is approved.
- Assist Sales on technical sales visits and project reviews.
- Ability to travel to client sites to evaluate project scopes with or without your team when necessary.
- Hold weekly meetings with each salesperson to review status of each project.
- Reviewing smart sheet updates and concerns with each salesperson.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering with 2-5 years or more experience.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and job costing and/or estimating experience.
- Must have mechanical aptitude and/or technical inclination.
- Knowledge of AutoCad required and Solidworks 3D a plus but not required.
